Principal's Corner

Dear Glenridge Families,
Our first quarter has come to an end. We will be printing report cards for this quarter and they will be going home next week. We will also be sending home Lion Leader invitations to those students whose grades, attendance and discipline meet our high expectations. Deans will also send a notice to parents through parent square once the list is finalized. As we move into the second quarter, it's important for students to begin on a positive trend. Remind your student that grades are reset and they have an opportunity to begin the quarter with an A in all classes. But they have to maintain that grade throughout the nine weeks by submitting their work and being on time to all classes.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Girls Coach: Graham Niemi
Boys Coach: Jerrod Jacoby

Congratulations to Coach Niemi, Coach Cox and their Lady Lions!!!

The girls hosted the quarterfinal match last night against a tough Lakeview team and came out victorious 1-0. The girls will now move on to the Final Four out of 50 middle schools that participate in soccer. Our UNDEFEATED Lady Lions will now travel to play Sun Ridge on Tuesday at 5:45. This is a pretty big travel, but I know we can send up a crowd to help cheer our girls on to the championship game.

Go LADY LIONS.........amazing job!!

Deans' Den

Greeting, Lions!
As deans, we see a lot of serious incidents that could have easily been avoided if our students would follow two very simple rules:
1.) Keep your hands to yourself:
  • NEVER hit, pull, push, or grab, even as a joke.
  • If it doesn't belong to you, leave it alone.
2.) T.H.I.N.K. before you speak:
  • is it TRUE?
  • is it HELPFUL?
  • is it INSPIRING?
  • is it NECESSARY?
  • is it KIND?
So often, the excuse is, "we were just playing," but the people who get hurt are not having any fun at all.
Parents and teachers: Please remind your students of these principles and encourage them to stand up for each other. Peer pressure can be positive when we all try to do what is right.

Good morning,

Please congratulate the students named above who made a great showing at the District FFA Forestry competition on Thurs, 10/9 in a field of 200 students from 22 different middle schools and high schools. Our students represented Glenridge well as they competed in the middle school division. The competition consists of Dendrology, Timber Cruising, Topographic Map Reading, General Knowledge, Tree Disorder ID, and Forestry equipment ID.

The team of Elly, Emma, Vera, and Lucy placed 3rd overall and Pearl placed 3rd overall in Timber Cruising. Other team members included Kenli Winkler, Nycx Lowman, and Ansley Roerig.

FFA competitions expose students to various agriculture-related careers, including forestry. Nearly half of Florida (17 million acres) is forest land, including 3 National Forests, 37 State Forests, and 54 Wildlife Management Areas. The forestry industry in Florida contributes over $14 billion to the economy and supports over 76,000 jobs.

Delayed Dismissal Process

There is a possibility (high likelihood) that during the first week(s) of school we have severe weather at the time of dismissal. If we are in a delayed dismissal hold, we will send out communication to all families, and we ask that you follow our procedures for safety and convenience.
  • If you plan on picking up your child, you must report to the front office with proper identification.
  • Our staff will greet you and ask for your child's name. We will call your student down from class and walk them to the front office and you can exit with your child through the back doors.
  • If you plan on picking up for someone else, YOU MUST BE on the approved pick up list. This doesn't change unless the parent requested a change. Please know that no matter how much we like you/trust you/know you, if you are not on a students approved Skyward list, my staff will not be able to release the student to you.
